1954
The Minneapolis Lakers and the Milwaukee Hawks play in an experimental game where the NBA raised the hoops from 10 feet to 12 feet. The Lakers would win 65-63.

1974
The New Orleans Jazz franchise is established.

1996
Magic Johnson becomes the second player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career assists. He dished out seven assists in a Lakers' victory over the Sacramento Kings.
