Bibby to Miami?


After Mike Bibby agreed to a buyout with the Washington Wizards, there are now reports that he will join the Miami Heat. Bibby is averaging a career-low 9.1 points per game, but ranks 8th in three-pointers made.

Kevin Love's dominant game earns the Performance of the Night honors. His 37 point and 23 rebound game now accounts for his 46th straight double-double of the season. Love's huge performance helped the Wolves outgun the Warriors, 126-123.

Dwight Howard's dominant peformance was the best of the night. Superman could not be stopped by Oklahoma City as he tied a season-high of 40 points on an 80% clip. Howard also decided to throw a block party in Orlando, rejecting six shots. His unstoppable game propelled the Magic to a 11-88 win over the Thunder.

In one of the season's best games yet, Luol Deng earns Performance of the Night honors. Deng recorded his sixth double-double of the 2010-2011 campaign with 20 points and 10 boards. Deng hit clutch shots all night including his 3-point dagger with under 20 seconds left in the game. Luol Deng's big time game helped the Bulls steal a victory over the Miami Heat, 93-89.

Charlotte has agreed to ship Gerald Wallace to Portland in exchange for Joel Pryzbilla, Dante Cunningham, and two first-round draft picks.

Davis to Cleveland, Williams to Los Angeles


The Clippers and Cavaliers have agreed to swap their starting point guards on Thursday morning.

Baron Davis and a 1st round pick will be going to Cleveland while Mo Williams and Jamario Moon are being sent to Los Angeles.

Looks like Clippers owner Donald Sterling really dislikes Baron Davis. First he heckles him mid-game and now he trades him to the most miserable basketball city on Earth.

We saw some vintage Kobe Bryant on Wednesday night in the Lakers' overtime victory against Portland. Kobe dropped 37 points, pulled down nine boards, and dished out six dimes. He scored the final eight points for Los Angeles in overtime, leading the Lakers to a rare win in Portland.

Hinrich to Atlanta, Bibby to Washington


The Hawks and Wizards completed a trade Wednesday night involving point guards Mike Bibby and Kirk Hinrich.

The five-player deal has Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong headed to Atlanta and Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans, and a first-round draft pick going to Washington.

Ready and Willing: Nets acquire Deron Williams


The Nets missed out on Carmelo Anthony. But that didn't stop them from grabbing Deron Williams, one of the league's best point guards.

Wilt Chamberlain ties his rookie record of 58 points, leading the Philadelphia Warriors to a 129-122 win over the New York Knicks.

1976
Red Holzman wins his 500th game as a head coach. That night, he coached the Knicks to a 102-98 victory over New Orleans in New York.

1993
Utah Jazz teammates Karl Malone and John Stockton become the first duo to share All-Star Game MVP honors. Malone's 28 points and Stockon's 15 assists put the West past the East in overtime, 135-132.



2011 NBA All-Star Game: A Hollywood Ending


The 2011 NBA All-Star Game saw the West defeating the East, 148-143. The West led throughout most of the game and held off a furious East rally led by Miami Heat superstar LeBron James.

Kobe Bryant was named the game's MVP. He scored 37 points, pulled down 14 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and added 3 steals on his homecourt at the Staples Center. This is Bryant's fourth All-Star Game MVP award, tying him with Bob Pettit for the most in NBA history. Kobe was only five points shy of tying Wilt Chamberlain's All-Star Game record of 42 points.

Behind the homecooking of The Black Mamba, the West chalked up an impressive victory in the 60th edition of the NBA All-Star Game.

John Stockton of the Utah Jazz becomes the NBA's all-time steals leader with 2,311 takeaways. Stockton passed the previous leader, Maurice Cheeks, in a 112-98 victory over the Boston Celtics.

1982
The Atlanta Hawks take four overtimes to defeat the Seattle Supersonics, 127-122. It was the fourth longest game in NBA history.

1995
While fasting for his observance of Ramadan, Houston's Hakeem Olajuwon reaches the 10,000 career rebound mark. His nine rebounds and 27 points, however, weren't enough as the Rockets suffered a 122-117 loss to the New York Knicks.

1996
Charles Barkley records his 10,000th career rebound, becoming the 10th player in league history with 20,000 points and 10,000 boards.

'Melo to Nets?


The Bergen Record reports the Nets and Nuggets have reached a tentative agreement on a trade involving Carmelo Anthony. The potential blockbuster deal also involves Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Melvin Ely, and Renaldo Balkman from Denver and Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh, and 4 1st-round draft picks from New Jersey.

The only factor holding this trade behind is Carmelo's willingness to sign a 3-year, $65 million contract extension.

This Day in NBA History: February 18th

1961
Bob Pettit scores a career-high 57 points. His St. Louis Hawks defeated the Detroit Pistons 141-138.

1964
Wilt Chamberlain chalks up his second consecutive 50-point game, scoring 52 against Detroit.

1986
Alvin Robertson records the second quadruple-double in NBA history. He led the Spurs to a 120-114 over Phoenix with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals.

1995
John Stockton records 10,000 career assists, becoming the first guard in NBA history to do so.

Performance of the Night: February 17, 2011


Derrick Rose registered a huge game and is more than deserving of the Performance of the Night. Rose scored a career-high 42 points in just 39 minutes of play. He also added 8 dishes and 5 boards in the huge 109-99 victory over the Spurs. Rose continues to make his case for the being league's MVP.

The all-around performance from Monta Ellis earns him today's honors. Behind Monta's 35 points on 16 of 25 shooting, the Warriors picked up the victory over the Utah Jazz. Last night marked their 26th victory which already ties their entire win total from last season.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame opens in Springfield, Massachusetts.

1994
San Antonio's David Robinson records the fourth quadruple-double in the history of the league. He scored 34 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 10 assists, and served up 10 blocks in a 115-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Performance of the Night: February 15, 2011


Dwyane Wade's big performance on Tuesday night helped the Heat hold off the Indiana Pacers. Wade scored a game-high 41 points and added 12 boards in the 110-103 Miami victory. His 22-point first quarter set the tone for his dominant night.

He also proved he should be the staring QB for the Dolphins with this pass to LeBron:

Los Angeles Laker Wilt Chamberlain becomes the first player in NBA history to score 30,000 points in a career. At the time, no player ever reached the 25,000 point mark.

1992
Earvin "Magic" Johnson's number 32 is retired at the Great Western Forum during halftime of a Lakers-Celtics game.

Performance of the Night: February 14, 2011


The surprise Performance of the Night honor goes to Houston's Courtney Lee. Lee provided a huge spark off Rick Adelman's bench, scoring 22 points in just 26 minutes. He put on a three-point barrage, hitting on five of his seven attempts. Lee's incredible night was key to Houston' 121-102 win over the reelng Denver Nuggets.

This Day in NBA History: February 15th

1989
The Detroit Pistons trade Adrian Dantley to the Dallas Mavericks for Mark Aguirre and a first-round pick. The move would later help Detroit capture the NBA title.

Team of the Week: February 7 - February 13


Despite failing to finish off the week at a perfect 4-0, the Los Angeles Lakers earn Team of the Week honors. The defending champions picked up road victories against the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and most importantly, the Boston Celtics. Their win in Boston is argubly their most important victory since Game 7 of the 2010 Finals.

During their 3-1 stretch this week, Kobe Bryant averaged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. His best game came against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden as he dropped 33 points on a 12 of 17 shooting clip. He also added 10 boards, giving him his sixth double-double of the season.

This Day in NBA History: February 14th

1966
Wilt Chamberlain passes Bob Pettit as the NBA's all-time leading scorer. Chamberlain's 41 points in that game carried Philadelphia to a 149-123 victory over Detroit. (Chamberlain would later be surpassed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1984.)

1987
The Pontiac Silverdome holds an NBA single-game attendance record of 57,745. The Pistons defeated the 76ers, 125-107. (This record would later be broken in the same building less than a year later on January 29, 1988. This time, 61, 983 fans watched the Pistons take on the Celtics.)

2010
An NBA All-Star Game attendance record of 108, 713 people stack up Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas to watch the East defeat the West, 141-139. Dwyane Wade posted 28 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals in his MVP performance.

Performance of the Night: February 13, 2011


Orlando's Dwight Howard cashed in a monster game on Sunday. His 31 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks propelled the Magic's big victory over the surging Los Angeles Lakers.

1962
Oscar Robertson puts on one of the best individual performances in NBA history. He scored 42 points, dished out 18 assists, and pulled down 15 rebounds.

1977
In his first NBA All-Star Game, Julius Erving scored 30 points and collected 12 rebounds for the East. Even though the East suffered a 125-124 loss, Erving was named the game's MVP.

2000
Behind a monstrous backcourt of Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, and Tim Duncan, the West holds off the East to pick up a 137-126 win. The three 7-footers combined for 70 points and 33 rebounds as O'Neal and Duncan shared the game's MVP honors.

Kevin Durant helped the Thunder squeak by the Sacramento Kings, 99-96. He scored 35 points on a 59% clip from the field, pushing Oklahoma City's record to 34-18.

Yet another epic performance for Kobe Bryant in New York earns him the Performance of the Night. Bryant scored 33 points on a staggering 12 of 17 shooting night. He added 10 boards to give him his sixth double-double of the season. Kobe has a career average of 30.5 PPG at Madison Square Garden.
